Kyle XY – Bringing Down the House
After watching the final episode of Kyle XY I had to go online to make sure I was right that this was the final episode because the truth is that this episode didn’t wrap up anything.
Now from what I understand it’s been known for some time that Kyle XY was being canceled so I have to asked, did the writers not have time to film a real ending to the show or do they have some hope of finishing the story someplace else.
It wouldn’t be the first show to get a movie after it was canceled or to move to another network, but usually when this happens the word is out before the show is canceled that there is at least some chance of this but even without any hint it seems possible because while this was only the 10th episode it really felt like a sea
son finally. Many of the ongoing stories this season did wrap up pretty nicely. The love triangle about the main characters while not completely over was largely dealt with and Josh’s girlfriend has left and he dealt with it. Even the latnock part of the story is almost completely dealt with.
In fact the truth is that most of the questions I went into this episode with have been answered, but they tossed out a few major questions at the end. Kyle finds out at the last moment that Cassidy is his half brother just as he is about to kill him.
If he kills the man then in large part free and clear. Latnok’s plans are stopped and they probably won’t bother him too much if Cassidy is gone, but Kyle won’t be the hero we have grown to know.
As someone who only recently started watching Kyle XY the ending didn’t bother me all that much, but I could certainly see how it might upset long term fans who were expecting a cap to their show rather than a question mark.

i have followed the show since midway through the first season and feel the final episode was either not the end of the story, e.g. upcoming movie or another network as mentioned. another scenario, the writers quit the show before this episode was finished and they got a bunch of hacks from walmart writing academy to complete the scripts for the final episode. regardless the last episode was a total let down.
I tried to assume that it wasn’t the writers quitting/not caring because I like to assume that they are more interested in giving their fans a good experience than their paycheck or network politics, not just because that’s the nice thing to do but because it’s smart. I’m still watching dollhouse after all.
