Okay, first off John Stewart was only a marine in the cartoon, in the comic he is an architect and his use of the ring reflects on that. Second of all, as a fan of the comics, I believe the better hero would be Kyle Rayner. He may not be as widely loved as Hal Jordan, but almost so and easily agreeable he's just as powerful a green lantern if not more so. Hal Jordan's origins have been told and retold again, and making a movie with the same plot would seem stale to fans of the comic. As for the villian it would most likely involve a Sinestro plot, and I think the best comic book section of story for this would be the Rebirth plot arc. After all, why limit yourself to one gl? There's a whole corps of them!!
