Smallville: Doomsday Review

In the last two days we have been given a lesson on why shows should have a set plan and built in time limit. Two nights ago the Lost season finally was on and it was great. The plot jumped forward, the characters acted differently and it makes me excited for next season.

Last night the Smallville seasons finally Doomsday was on. This is a show that most people thought was going to end this season but stayed on for another season and the finally showed that. Much of the end of the episode felt like a set up for the next season. We need Clark to have a flaw so lets give him one.

That isn’t to say that I didn’t enjoy Smallville last night. There were many great moments and even some of the twists were interesting. It’s just that the end felt as if it were created simply so they would have something to do next season.

Perhaps part of the reason it left me so flat is that I never really cared all that much for the movies and the villian they set up for next season is Zod.  This doesn’t mean that it can’t be good I just don’t care all that much about him.

I for one am ready to see this show move on to the next stage. I have said it before but I think it bears repeating that the show needs to stop delaying the appearance of Superman. Change the costume if that is the problem but give the man his glasses and show us how thees people react to a real superhero in their midst.

I am interested though in seeing what Lois will get to see. Will she learn about the red blue blur? And finally will we ever get a visit from a young millionare who lives in Gothem?
