David Eddings Has Died

Best known for his high fantasy series the Belgariad and Mallorean series of author David Eddings died. He was 77 years old. His wife Leigh, who had helped write the novels died in 2007 after having multiple strokes.

Having suffered from dementia for the last year the death of David Eddings was not a surprise.

It is surprising how close a person can feel to someone who you have never met and everything you have read is fiction. Each time one of these beloved fantasy or science fiction writers die I  feel it as if the were an old frend and the only comfort is that they will live on through the stories they have told.

If you have not read the Belgariad series of books consider strongly picking them up as one of the best fantasy novels ever written and as a fitting legacy for this man.
