Burn Notice

I typically stick to talking about science fiction and fantasy shows, but with the summer finale of Burn Notice I wanted to stop and point out just how much fun this show is.

USA has been doing an excellent job of comming up with good shows and this is at the center of them with plenty of action and fun. A show that is able to be serious and funny at the same time.

The basic plot is that Michal is a spy who has been burned, or kicked out. He is dropped of in Miami with no money and no contacts. Rather than working at McDonnalds he helps people who need someone with his particular skill set. This has been done before. It’s quite similar to “The Equilizer” in plot.

What drew me to the show first was Bruce Campbell. Michel’s friend and former FBI agent, he is great fun on the show as you would expect with at least one good line every show.

The rest of the cast is great too. The part of Michal is a fantastic showcase for Jeffery Donovan because he basically plays a different part every week. As a spy he slips in and out of characters, from the Irish terrorist Michal McBride to a nerd, a criminal, or anything else he needs.

There is a great deal going on every week and it’s always fun, so if you haven’t been watching Burn Notice you should give it a chance. It’s worth watching from the beginning but you can jump in anywhere and generally know what is going on.
