Digital landscaping

Just a fun little project example for my Digital Art class I’m teaching this year. I think I was channeling some Shadow of Colossus or Journey vibes.

Wizard of Oz cover

This summer I finally had time to take some online classes through the Society of Visual Storytelling. I highly recommend it if you are an artist interested in improving your illustration skills with classes taught by world class artists. I ended up participating in the monthly art contest there for the first […]

Things that are awesome: Kane

Here is some fan art for Kane, a crime comic by Paul Grist. I started reading this back in the 90’s and was lucky enough to meet Paul at the ‘97 SDCC. Paul is an absolute master of comic storytelling, and his comics are a great blend of crime noir atmosphere with […]

Things that are awesome: Rumble

Another creator-owned comic that has just blown me away the last few years is Rumble by John Arcudi and James Harren. This story of an ancient warrior resurrected in the body of a scarecrow who is sent by the gods to hunt down demons in modern day has a bit of everything. […]

Things that are awesome: Double Fine Action Comics

Redrawing monsters!

This drawing was done as part of the Monster Project, where different artists illustrate the creations of some amazing kids. This is Bumpy, created by 7-year old Grant! Bumpy is an alien with an impressive list of powers. When Grant mentioned one of them was “lava breath” I just had to draw […]

Things that are awesome: Courtney Crumrin

My daughter and I recently took a break from reading the Harry Potter series to introduce her to the world of Courtney Crumrin and all the various night things of her world. Ted Naifeh has created a true classic with these graphic novels. I highly recommend them to anyone who likes spunky […]

More Six Fan Arts!

I enjoyed doing the Six Fan Arts Challenge so much that I did two more! The first was from requests from our local Sketch Night group, and the second was requested by students in the Cartoonist Club I sponsor.
