May 4th is a great day for nerds. As we all know it was May the 4th 1775 when the first folding umbrella was debuted and it was only 5 years later when Charles Bunbury won the first Epsom Derby, but more recently it has become Star Wars day. This year though it is doubly (or Quadruply) important because it happens to fall on the first Saturday which also makes it free comic book day. One can only hope that there is at least one story about the release of the folding umbrella, but even if they miss that obvious story there will be a lot of great comics.
As Seth said in his earlier post, the members of Three Trees Studios are going to be spending Free Comic Book Day at Hurley’s Heroes in Joplin Missouri and if you happen to be in town we certainly hope to see you there. In fact you might even be able to get them to draw a sketch of Sir Charles Bunbury winning the Epsom Derby (Though you may want to bring a picture of the Baronet since I’m not sure if Matt knows what he looks like from memory.) Of course, being Star Wars day you might also be able to convince Matt to do a sketch of one of your favorite Star Wars Characters, though that seems a bit obscure to me.
We will of course have all of our other stuff there as well, including some great posters of a few Star Wars Characters which Matt drew and our new comic books. It’s a great way to have some fun finding out what are the comics that the publishers are excited about this year and an easy way to find out which comic books you want to buy every month. Hope to see you there.
