Sketch night remix!

Our sketch challenge this week was to redesign an established character in such a way that all it had in common with the original was the name. Pretty fun and more challenging than you might think… check it out!

Sketching with paint

The Hulk Scarecrow

Great Red Dragon and Rat Creature

Sorry for the lack of updates… I’ve been having internet issues the last week or two, but now everything’s hunky-dory.

Awhile back, our friend Randy Rustin was over for dinner and we ended doing some sketches.  I did a loose sketch in pencil which he watercolored over and then I inked.  The results are little rough, but a lot of fun, I think.  Hope you like them!

Comics Improv

Jam comics

Well, after meeting for Joplin Sketch Night every month for almost a year now, we finally decided to make some jam comics together. It’s always fun to riff on each other’s ideas. You can check out the craziness for yourself!

Splattering ink with friends

If you haven’t checked out Stefan Bucher’s The Daily Monster, you need to. It’s a creativity exercise where he splatters some ink, blows it around with compressed air, and turns into something interesting. We enjoyed making a mess with this on Saturday’s Sketch Night. We had our biggest turnout so far, and everyone cranked out some crazy, fun stuff… check it out.

Fresh sketches are up over on the Joplin Sketch Night blog. This time we were inspired by John Hodgman’s list of 800 hobo names…

Check it out, if you dare.
